Connecting with Smuxi

Smuxi is an open-source IRC client that runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

  1. From the menu bar, select ServerAdd.

  2. Fill in the details:

    1. Hostname: fill in the bouncer server address (it should look like example.ircnow.org)
    2. Port: 31337
    3. Network: fill in the name of the network you want to connect to
    4. Nickname: fill in the bouncer username
    5. Password: username/network:password -- For example, if your username is john, the network you want to connect to is ircnow, and your password is abcde12345, then fill in john/ircnow:abcde12345.
    6. Check Automatically connect to server at startup
    7. Check Use Encryption
    8. Check Validate Server Certificate
    9. Click OK.
  3. From the menu bar, select ServerConnect.

  4. Click Connect at the bottom-right corner.

  5. If you see a message saying ZNC is not yet connected to the network, type /znc connect -- wait a few minutes to connect.
