Connect

Adium is a free instant messaging app for macOS that can connect to XMPP, IRC, and much more. It easily integrates with macOS' Contacts app, supports macOS Notification Center, OTR encryption, file transfer, and has been translated into 27 different languages.

  1. Open Adium.
  2. Click Continue:

  3. Setup Assistant:
    1. For Service, select XMPP (Jabber)
    2. For Jabber ID, pick username@example.com. Replace example.com with one of IRCNow's free servers.
    3. Pick a hard to guess password.
    4. Click Continue.

  4. Click Done:

  5. From the menu bar, select File->Add Account->XMPP (Jabber):

  6. Fill in JabberID and Password, then click Register New Account:

  7. If you see an error message, click OK:

  8. Fill in your server, then click Request New Account:

  9. Fill in your username (don't type the domain) and password.

  10. Click OK.

  11. To log in, click on the Offline status and select Available:
